Zyber porting

As Jim mentioned on his blog, we stayed back on Friday night and had a quick whack at getting zyber up and running on Windows. CL was done with relative ease. Mostly just some macros that didn’t work. In any case, some screenies from the cube demo that runs on CL. :)

Lol.. I’m so geeky….

Watched these and just had to blog about them….before Spinboy does. ;)

This one is just clever, original, and DAFT PUNK. Can’t get much better than this.

This one is just….. I dunno… it’s got GEEK written all over it.

Nostalgia overload!

Most of us are familiar with the 80’s cartoons right? Thundercats? He-man/She-ra? M.A.S.K? Centurions? Gummi Bears? Transformers? Muppet Babies? Many many more, so I wont spoil further. :) I would highly recommend watching this with another childhood-in-the-80s person. ;)

Hazzah!?

Onetwenty Coverage!

A friend brought my attention to an article in this month’s edition of PC Powerplay Magazine. :) This is from Issue 139, page 11.

zyberflux article

Great job! It seems they were quite impressed with Zyberflux. :) Blame the bad screenshot on Tone….. it was him! (j/k). Seriously though, I wish they told us they were using that picture for publication. We would have taken more effort to get a better screenshot. This on was taken moments before we submitted to Interzone Nullarbor, and we thought it’ll just be on the IZNull website to identity the entries.

All well…. You know… I’m starting to think that we should port Zyber to windows now… especially if we get the whole of Australia trying to download and play the game…..hmmm…

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder?

An interesting article here.

It was an experiment set up by the Washington Post - they got a world famous violinist to play some of the most best classical (not necessarily well known) in a metro station. The question to answer was - would people recognise talent or the beauty of good music? Interesting results, though not surprising….

GO3 + IZNullarbor Game Competition

It’s finally over. The conference was excellent with a range of very high calibre speakers. Hideo Kojima and Tetsuya Mizuguchi are among the many great speakers. The links are from Gamasutra. Oh yeah, got my copy of Space Channel 5 personally signed by Mizuguchi-san! teh awesomez!!!11!! Photo to come later.

As for the game competition IZNullarbor, it was quite popular with quite a number of people particapating in the competition and voting. At the end of the day - Zyberflux (video trailer here) came second! w00t! - Got some cool prizes

Tired. Might write more later. :P

FF XII - First Impressions

Absolutely Teh Awesome.

Well, at least so far. It’s starting to grow on me. The battle system - using Gambits, is very weird at first. Once you get the hang of it, it gets suprisingly deep.

Verdict: Loving it!

Zyberflux Update

Here are some screens of the progress on Zyber.

The first screen shows one of the new obstacles. The “Tier Rings” in zyber. Notice that the ship now travels on one of three tiers. The current tier you are on is highlighted - which is blue in this case, with green being the middle tier and red as the lowest tier. The tier rings are colour coded, so you know which tier to avoid.
Screen1

Another screenshot of a tier ring. This one is the middle tier ring, and so the ship must be on one of the other two tiers to avoid damage.
screen2

The last screen was taken through a hex flux field, like one seen in the first screenshot. This screenshot was meant to show the next checkpoint model.
screen3

Hopefully more to come, and even a video later.

Beatboxing Flute - Mario Theme

Beatboxing…. what? I seriously had no idea how someone can do that. You would think that beatboxing and playing the flute would be one of the more incompatible combinations ever… and yet….check this out.

Zyberflux is alive again.

Onetwenty has started to move in bring Zyber back from the forgotten digital tomb. With playing around with the look and feel of the game, below are 2 screenshots. Actually, it was just playing around with making the heightmap wire frame or not.

Tone, Jim, Minh and I are now working on polishing up (and probably some changes in gameplay) to make it ready for Nullabor ‘07. More reports later.
